La Fête des Caf’ Conc’ was an annual charity event in aid of retired performers’ benevolent fund in Paris in early last century. This photo shows the one held at the Stade Buffalo Velodrome, Montrouge, in September 1935. Here is a view of the race of “hat deliverers”. The woman comedian on the right tries her best at the cost of her speed to balance the column of hatboxes to no avail. She does not think her costume is funny and she even feels proud of it as her wooden clogs reflect her Dutch heritage.
