Mr. Nakajima’s father was a farmer and had founded a farming co-op with some of his neighbours. They not only worked together but also took vacations together. This photo was taken during their visit to the famous monkey park during a tour to Nagasaki and Beppu in Kyushu. Though uninterested in animals the gentleman on the right hand side had joined the outing. Because of his war experience he was much more interested in the visit to Nagasaki. It had once been thought that, after the detonation of the atomic bomb, Nagasaki would be lifeless for 75 years. However it had now recovered and was a major city with shipbuilding and tourism and this made him curious. He believed it would be far more meaningful for him to take pictures in the Nagasaki Peace Park.
中島先生的父親是農夫，跟其他鄰居組成農業合作社，除了一起工作，也會一起旅遊。 這是老中島先生當年到九州別府和長崎旅遊，途中參觀這個以猴子著名的動物園時留 影。右邊的朋友其實對動物沒有興趣，只是隨旅行團的固定路缐到此一遊 ;他經歷過 戰爭，對接着的長崎之旅充滿期待。有說長崎在原爆後七十五年寸草不生，現在卻成 為造船業重鎮和旅遊城市。他對這個重生的故事非常好奇，覺得到長崎平和公園拍照 留念會有意義得多。

中島さんの父は農家だった。隣人と一緒に農地を共同で管理していた。彼らは一緒 に働くだけでなく、旅行に出かけたりもする。この写真は、観光ツアーの一環で長 崎と大分の別府を周った際に訪れた、有名な猿山で撮った一枚だ。右側の男性は動 物には興味がないものの、あらかじめ決められた旅程に従ってここに来たのだった。 戦時中の経験から、彼はどうしても長崎に来たかった。そこでは原爆による被害以 降 75 年の間、生き物はもはや生存できないだろうと囁かれていた。けれどもいま では造船と観光の主要都市として立ち直ってっていて、その事実が彼を魅了したの だった。平和公園で写真を撮ることの方がよほど意味のあることだと、彼には思え て仕方なかった。
