In this photo, taken by their teacher, Mr. Nakajima and his schoolmates are resting in front of a shrine during a school outing. The boy with his back towards the camera was inquisitive. He had a younger cousin from Okayama Prefecture in Sanyo who had very bad skin and was unusually small. His uncle said that she had consumed some contaminated baby formula when she was an infant and had almost died. However they were unable at the time to pursue the matter in court. The boy did not fully understand this. Many years later when he went to university to study law he came to understand the unfairness of the situation. Then one day in 1969 he read a report in the Asahi Shimbun that after 14 years evidence had been discovered relating to the Morinaga milk arsenic poisoning incident. Now he believed that the 130 babies who died of consuming toxic milk would finally be granted justice.
這是中島先生小學參加學校旅行，在神社前小休時由老師拍攝的照片。背向鏡頭的同 學愛好查根問底，他有一個表妹住在山陽崗山縣，皮膚很差、個子又特別小，舅舅只 說她是襁褓時期吃了黑心嬰兒奶粉，病得差不多要死，卻又不得追究。他不大明白， 卻又心生不忿。直至他多年後上大學唸法律，一天讀《朝日新聞》，報導了森永乳業 1955 年生產的奶粉導致食用者中毒的證據，他相信 130 名吃過毒奶粉而死亡的嬰兒 終會沉冤得雪。

この写真は、中島さんと同級生が学校遠足の時に神社の前で休みを取っている様子 であり、先生によって撮影されたものだ。カメラに背を向けている男の子は好奇心 旺盛だった。彼は山陽の岡山県に幼い従姉妹がいて、彼女は年齢の割にとても小さ く、皮膚が荒れていた。彼の叔父は、彼女が乳幼児期の間に汚染された乳児用製品 を摂取し、亡くなったと語った。しかし、彼らは真相を究明することができなかっ た。少年は全くそれが理解できず、何年も後、法律を学びに大学へ入学するまでず っと不可解であった。1969 年のある日、彼は朝日新聞の、14 年も経って森永ヒ素 ミルク中毒事件の証拠が発見されたという記事を読んだ。彼は汚染された有毒のミ ルクを飲んで死亡した 130 人の乳児の真実が明らかにされることを信じていた。
