Kamigo is located on a hillside that receives a large amount of snow, and this makes it a popular skiing destination. This photo captures the moment when a Kamigo student, who is wearing the registration number one, was a contestant in a regional competition. The official seen at the back left hand side was a local postman who loved skiing. When he was younger he had once dreamed of being a professional skier. But he had come to realise that this was not realistic as he had neither the talent nor the training. After he graduated from high school he began working in the Post Office, and the last twenty years had passed quickly. As he had no children or hobbies, his life was quiet and comfortable. His spare time was spent mostly in volunteer community services.
上鄉靠山多雪，滑雪是很普遍的運動，此照片紀錄了當年在附近舉行的地區性學生比 賽，1 號選手是上鄉的同學。站左後方的工作人員其實是當地的一位郵差，但喜歡滑 雪，年少時曾夢想成為專業的滑雪選手，可惜欠缺天份和訓練，很快他就知道夢想遠 離現實。高中畢業後他開始在郵局工作，一幹二十年 ;他沒有孩子，也沒有什麼嗜好， 但生活安定，閒時就當義工參與社區活動。

上郷は丘の中腹に位置している地域である。雪深いその土地で、スキーはとても人 気のあるスポーツだ。この写真は、上郷の生徒が No.1 のゼッケンをつけて地域の 大会に出場したときに撮られたものである。後方左側に構えるスタッフは、普段は 地元の郵便局員として働いている。彼もスキーをこよなく愛しており、かつて子供 だった頃プロのスキー選手になることを夢見ていた。才能もなく特別な練習を積む こともなかった彼は、それが全く現実的ではないといつしか悟った。高校を卒業し てから郵便局で働き始め、20 年という月日が矢のように過ぎていった。子供も、 趣味もない彼の人生は平凡ながら、平穏だった。彼は余暇のほとんどを、地域のボ ランティアに費やした。
