In Front of the Train Station. Gelatin silver print, C.1950, 5.9 x 5.8 cm, Fujita Cosmetics Collection.

Mr. Mitsutaka Fujita took this photo at the Kintetsu Railway Station before he joined a group on business tour to Kyushu. In the photo a woman wearing a striped sweater and a dark coloured skirt queues for Ise Nakagawa and Uji Yamada Limited Express train tickets. She had just turned 19 which traditionally is considered her Yakudoshi (Unlucky Year). She had visited Ise Shrine for the yakubarai ritual earlier this year and was now going there again with her mother for the Okihiki Festival as this was the year for the shrine to conduct the Shikinen-sengu ceremony of reconstruction which occurred once every 20 years.
