Tamiko poses in front of the Outer Tamagaki Gateway leading to the Naiku (Inner Shrine). As one of the most important shrines, Ise Jingu (Grand Shrine) has long been a very popular destination. The strong summer sun did not discourage the teenage girl with white hat at the far back from waiting in line to worship. While waiting she had learnt from her guidebook that the pavilion down the steps was supposed to be the place to prepare meals to be served to the God. Her fun-loving character couldn’t help laughing when she found it written that “it should be two meals a day with catch of the day as ingredients or sacri ces”. She almost forgot she came here to pray for her love life.

これは内宮に通じる外玉垣南御門の前でポーズをとる 多美子さんの写真だ。伊勢神宮はもっとも重要な神社 のひとつであり、昔から人気のある旅先だった。夏の強 い日差しの下でも、白い帽子をかぶった少女はお参り を待つ列に並ぶのをやめなかった。彼女は待っている 間、ガイドブックを読み、階段の下にある東屋みたいな ものが、神様に捧げる食事を準備する場所であること を知った。またそこには「1日2食、そしてその日に収 穫した材料や贄でなければならない」と書かれており、 彼女は思わず笑ってしまった。恋愛について祈願しよう と思ってここに来たのを忘れてしまうところだった。
