On December 26, 1968, a 27-year old man with mental illness attempted to assault his mother and three police officers with a chopper at Block 28 of the Shek Kip Mei resettlement estate (where is Mei Sang House today). A team of riot police was sent later and a round of teargas was fired in order to capture him for hospital for further examination.

1968年12月1日，在石硖尾徙置區第28座（即今日美笙樓位置），一名27歲患有精神病的青年男子手持菜刀，追斬其母親及三名警員。警方隨後派出一隊防暴警察，並向男子施放一發催淚彈，把男子制服及送往醫院檢查。
