On 9 October 2009, the Louvre Museum announced the return of five fresco fragments from a 3,200-year-old Luxor tomb. Acquired in the 2000s but alleged stolen in the 1980s, their return followed protests by Egypt’s chief archaeologist, Zahi Hawass. |
