On 9 October 1973, an Israeli air raid on Damascus killed about 30 people and wounded 70. Among the victims were 11 foreigners, including six Russians, two Indians, and three Norwegians, one of whom was 8-year-old Jorna, the daughter of UN observer Captain Didrik Tjoerswaag.
